Impressive show: Artistes from Kerala presenting ‘Dhrishya talam’ at a tourism promotion event organised by Kerala Tourism in Visakhapatnam on Thursday.

The brief but splendid performances by the artistes from Kerala took the guests through a virtual tour of ‘God’s Own Country’. Their rich, colourful costumes, expressions, rhythmic dances and hair-raising martial arts provided a feast to the eyes.

The event was organised as a part of the tourism promotion event by Kerala Tourism Department here on Thursday. The programme began with young girls presenting Mohini Attam. Their expressive eyes and traditional attire provided the perfect start to the show. It was followed by the traditional martial art form ‘Kalaripayattu’. The two young men were in perfect sync even without the swords and shields.

The audience stood on their toes as they jumped in the air with their swords and shields. Mayuri nrutyam in which an artiste, dressed like a peacock, standing on sticks was another highlight of the show. The dancer jumping in the air, despite standing on stilts, and her facial expressions evoked awe among the audience. The temple art form invoking Mother Goddess and a traditional dance to welcome the monsoon were the other attractions.
