A jilted lover should neither deride his fiancée or womankind as a whole nor drown himself in liquor and abruptly end his life. The ‘revenge’ taken by the jilted lover gives a ‘positive result’!

Roop Journo PS, a student of B. Sc Visual Communication at the PSG College of Arts and Science, Coimbatore in Tamil Nadu, asks: ‘Why Not’?

He has written, directed and edited a short film by the same name as part of his project work. The 25-minute film was screened at the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication of Andhra University on Sunday.

The film revolves around Chandu and Shree Das, the lead pair, who were in deep love, get married and finally Shree Das gets into an extra-marital relationship and breaks up with her lover. She does not repent her actions and Chandu drowns himself in liquor and smoking.

His friend tries to tell him that love in the present day scenario was nothing but a strategy by girls to satisfy their desires and for jilted young men to drown themselves in liquor and ruin their lives. Chandu disagrees with his views and the next day he finds his friend dead.

The protagonist tracks down the gang that kills his friend. He befriends a woman in the gang and takes her into confidence to elicit information about the main villain. Chandu finally eliminates the villain and avenges the death of his friend but in the process he also rescues girls, who were being exploited by the gang.

Head of the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication of Andhra University P. Bobby Vardhan commended the crew for earning the appreciation of superstar Rajnikanth’s guru Muthuraman and Suresh Krishna (of ‘Daddy’ fame), when the short film was screened at their college. The entire cast and crew are from Visakhapatnam.

The others in the cast include: Sai Krish, Kumar Raja, Subhangi, Sai Kumar, Pavan Mylapalli and Prem Sagar.
