The urban and rural units of Telugu Desam Party have sought shifting of manpower and equipment from ESI Hospital, Malkapuram to Visakha Institute of Medical Sciences (VIMS) pending completion of new complex near Sheilanagar.

The coordination committee meeting held in the presence of Deputy Chief Minister N. Chinarajappa here on Saturday and attended by R&B Minister Ch. Ayyanna Patrudu, Anakapalle MP Muttasetti Srinivasa Rao, MLAs and MLCs felt that people would stand benefited if the 250 doctors and other staff and equipment now lying idle were shifted to VIMS immediately.

Briefing reporters TDP urban district president and Visakha South MLA Vasupalli Ganesh Kumar and rural district president and Elamanchili MLA Panchakarla Ramesh Babu said the new ESI Hospital construction would take another two years.

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, Union Urban Development Minister M. Venkaiah Naidu and Union Labour Minister Bandaru Dattatreya had participated in the foundation stone-laying ceremony.

The meeting felt the need for expediting completion of Bus Rapid Transit System in Visakhapatnam, solving the land issue of ‘panchagramalu’ (five villages) of Simhachalam and shifting of pollution-hit villagers of Tadi near Jawaharlal Nehru Pharma City by bringing it to the notice of the Cabinet.

The problems in the district also came up for discussion. It was decided to hold next coordination committee meeting of the rural unit at Elamanchili and appoint district party spokesman from among people who could articulate party viewpoints effectively.
