The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has turned into a puppet in the hands of the Congress, YSR Congress leader Sharmila has alleged.

Addressing a public meeting at Ramakrishna Beach here on Friday, she said the charges against YSRC president Jaganmohan Reddy could not be proved, but he was made to languish in jail for 13 months.

She said even a remand prisoner was entitled to bail after 90 days in jail, but Jaganmohan Reddy was being denied that opportunity on the plea that he would influence the witnesses in the case. Ms. Sharmila also found fault with the courts in this regard.

Earlier, the party leaders and workers thronged the beach from different corners of the city.

Impressive crowds gathered at the beach to see and listen to Ms. Sharmila.
