Donning the roles of a daughter, a wife, a daughter-in-law, a mother, and a professional with ease, women are striving hard to create their own identity with determination and dedication.

With meaty roles to play each day, striking the work-life balance has become a challenge for every woman, whose toil and sacrifice often remain unnoticed.

Keeping this in view, students of Dr. L. Bullaya College of Engineering for Women celebrated International Women’s Day with the theme Be a Woman of ‘Influence’ — Integrity, Nobility, Faithfulness, Loving, Uniqueness, Elegance, Newness, Courage, and Efficiency.

Scores of pretty looking students in colourful saris filled the seminar hall smiling, greeting, and sharing the joy of being a woman.

Role models

Students of II year CSC and ECE gave a presentation on the success stories of women, who had achieved great heights such as Mother Teresa for her unconditional service to humanity, Mithali Raj (captain of Indian women’s cricket team), K. Vishalini (11-year-old girl from Tirunelveli who has an IQ of 225), anchor Swathi (visually challenged), and Anil Jyothi Reddy for the struggles shed faced to become CEO of a software solution company, among others.

Students and dignitaries emphasised the need to promote gender sensitisation and treat women with dignity. “Women are good at competing and it is time we realised their efforts and appreciated their sincerity and hard work,” they said.

Later, students performed a host of cultural programmes. Additional Commissioner of Income Tax D. Komala Krishna, secretary and correspondent of the college G. Madhu Kumar, principal B. Sambi Reddy, director of AC and CA of the college K. Bhaskara Reddy participated.
