SFI call to reopen welfare hostels

September 23, 2013 10:49 am | Updated June 02, 2016 02:25 pm IST - VISAKHAPATNAM:

Welfare hostels should be reopened and RTC buses plied to enable students to attend classes without losing the academic year owing to the Samaikyandhra agitation, SFI city unit has demanded.

SFI city unit secretary U.S.N. Raju told reporters on Sunday that with hostels being closed, students from poorer sections studying in government institutions were losing out.

Corporate and private schools were being run and classes and examinations taking place but students could not attend owing to RTC strike and high auto fares, Mr. Raju said. He demanded that wardens, government employees, and RTC staff call off the strike.
