‘Set up study circles in all districts’

Candidates from poor families are forced to spend large sums to undergo coaching for the UPSC, APPSC, DSC, GATE, banks and other recruitment tests in the private institutions while those who cannot afford fee are not able to receive good coaching, and this situation necessitates starting study circles by the government in every district, former Minister and MP Konathala Ramakrishna has said in a letter to Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Tuesday.

He reminded Mr. Naidu that the Telugu Desam party in its election manifesto has promised to start NTR Study Circle in every district to provide good quality coaching for all recruitment tests but has not taken action even 27 months after the government was formed.

He also wanted the government to provide stipend, free accommodation and study material to those undergoing coaching at the NTR Study Circles. Mr. Ramakrishna wanted the government to reopen the AP Study Circle branch which was closed in 2008. The branch was started in 1988 in the then combined State and though a 3.5 acre site was allotted for construction of permanent building and provide all facilities like a good library and accommodation in 2002 and foundation was also laid, it was closed in 2008 without giving any reason. Thus candidates from poor families are denied good quality coaching for many years, he said.
