Seminar held on women managers

With the core themes as ‘women managers in functional areas’, ‘welfare facilities for women managers’, ‘leadership during times of complexity and change and compensation’ and ‘legal implications of women’, a national seminar on ‘Emerging trends of corporate woman in the present era’ was conducted recently in Vizianagaram.

The one-day programme, jointly hosted by Department of Management Studies, Andhra University campus, Vizianagaram, and Dr. Durgabai Deshmukh Centre for Woman’s Studies, AU (DDDCWS), saw experts emphasising on the management concepts to accomplish organisational goals through effective use of women workforce and changes required to bring out to strengthen their roles.

In her keynote address, director of DDDCWS B. Ratna Kumari highlighted how women show keen interest in climbing up the management hierarchy fighting the odds faced in various stages of their professional life.

Creating conducive environment, providing support structures, giving priority to women’s safety and security and providing counselling centres at workplace were some of the topics outlined at the seminar which was attended by AU Vice-Chancellor G.S.N. Raju, convener of the seminar A.V. Rao along with other invitees.
