What will you do when a stranger holds your hand and pulls you close to him in the middle of the road? How do you respond when a person tries to hit you with a stick when you least expect it? How do you defend yourself when you face an uncomfortable situation?

Boosting self confidence among students and ascertaining that every problem has a solution; self defence trainer and Inner Wheel Club member Dipti Shankar from Gurugram demonstrated simple techniques for self-defence at B.V.K. College on Monday.

With the focus on ‘Progress of women through education’ Ms. Dipti along with her seven-year-old son Amit, another member of the club Kanta Kapoor and Shehnaz set out on an 11-day expedition ‘mission on wheels’ on March 1.

Ms. Dipti, black belt in karate, urged students to step out of their comfort zones and make good use of dupatta, shoes and accessories as weapons to defend oneself against any sort of physical assault. Covering 3,500 kmand seven States so far, the team reached here on Monday and interacted with students.
