More than 2,000 security personnel would be on duty to ensure free and fair polling on June 12 in the Payakaraopeta by-election, Superintendent of Police G. Srinivasa Rao said on Sunday.
The personnel on duty included seven companies of the CISF. A Deputy Superintendent of Police would be in charge of each of the four mandals of the constituency and the Assistant SP of Narsipatnam would be moving around the constituency.
Twenty-four route mobiles, each headed by a Sub-Inspector, and 12 mobiles, each one with a Circle Inspector as in charge, would be on duty.
The polling stations have been identified as hypersensitive, sensitive.
There would be 33 pickets.
Mr. Srinivasa Rao said Rs. 3.51 crore in cash was seized during checks conducted to implement model code of conduct and handed over to the Income Tax Department.
A major portion of the money had been released after valid transaction documents were produced. As many as 4,146 mobile phones were seized along with 32 cricket kits, some sarees, and three vehicles.
During raids, 2,702 liquor bottles and some quantity of illicitly-distilled liquor were seized.
The police bounded-over 1,287 persons and served all but four NBWs pending in the area.
The four persons who could not be issued the NBWs were out of State. Sixteen cases of code violation were registered.
