SBI, HPCL donate vehicles to NGO

State Bank of India and HPCL each donated a vehicle to the Akshayapatra Foundation, an NGO which is organising mid-day meal programme for schools on a large scale, under their CSR programme.

One vehicle, donated by the SBI Commercial Branch was handed over to the NGO by bank’s General Manager MVGRO (Hyderabad) on Friday. Deputy General Manager of the Commercial Branch Srikant Hota and Akshayapatra Foundation’s local unit president Niskinchana Bhakta Das were present.

On Wednesday, HPCL donated a food distribution vehicle. Collector V. Sheshadri was the chief guest and handed over the vehicle on behalf of HPCL. General Manager in-charge of HPCL V.V.R. Narasimham; Chief Installation Manager of Visakha Terminal N.V.S.S. Kameswara Rao, Chief Manager (projects) K.V. Srinivasa Raju, Senior Manger U.S. Sarma were present.

Akshaya Patra is preparing 40,000 meal every day at its centralised kitchen in Autonagar, pack them into containers and transport them to 330 anganwadi centres and seven high schools through heat insulated food distribution vehicles up to a distance of 50 km. The vehicle donated by HPCL would be used to send mid-day meal to Anakapalle area.
