Sanitation workers took out rallies and formed human chains even as their strike entered second day on Sunday.

Workers from Wards 9 to 16 gathered at HB Colony bus stop from where they took out a rally to Sitammadhara Rythu Bazar via MMTC Colony and Alluri Sitarama Raju statue. A human chain was formed there.

The workers are on strike all over the State demanding issue of a GO on the agreement reached in October after a strike on a minimum wage of Rs.12,500 to contract and outsourcing workers, DA and interim relief and formation of a committee on appointment of school sweepers as full-time workers, among other things. Till now the government has not issued orders on implementation forcing another strike, leaders of CITU-affiliate GVMC Employees Union said. The striking workers will take out a rally from LIC Junction to GVMC office and lay siege to it on Monday.
