Rallies, human chains and hunger strikes for keeping the State united continued as part of the Samaikhyandhra agitation in the city on Friday. RTC drivers and conductors continued their strike for the fourth day. The management reportedly operated a few services with police escort.
Revenue employees kneeled on the road opposite the Collectorate to protest against bifurcation of the State. Raising slogans against Sonia Gandhi and KCR, the agitators said they would not tolerate division of the State.
Members of the Matsyakarula JAC went into the sea carrying banners and placards protesting against bifurcation of the State.
Rally today
The Vidyut Vudyogula Samaikhya Andhra JAC has announced its decision to take out a rally at Madhurawada on Saturday evening to protest the division of the State. The rally will start at the 33/11 KV Sub-Station at Madhurawada and proceed up to the cricket stadium and return by the same route, according JAC chairman J.R. Prasad.
A rally was organised by AP NGOs under the aegis of NMU at RTC Complex on Friday. NMU State joint secretary Y. Srinivasa Rao, zonal secretary PVV Mohan and NGO JAC district secretary Gopalakrishna participated. Mr. Srinivasa Rao said that the assets of RTC were concentrated in Hyderabad and the competition from private bus operators was eating into the revenue of RTC. He demanded the resignation of Seemandhra Ministers.
Later, the JAC leaders went in a procession to the offices of the private travel operators and sought their cooperation in making the Samaikhyandhra strike a success by withdrawing their services also.
The private operators agreed to withdraw their services. Later, the JAC leaders formed a human chain at Rama Talkies junction.
The Visakhapatnam centre of Confederation of Real Estate Developers Associations of India (CREDAI) will take out a procession on Saturday in support of Samaikyandhra. According to honorary secretary P. Koteswara Rao, the rally begins at 9.30 a.m. from Telugutalli statue and reaches GVMC via Andhra University gate, Rama Talkies and Asilmetta. After the rally a one-hour protest will be organised at Gandhi statue.
