Samaikyandhra Political JAC convener JT Rama Rao created a flutter when he climbed a tall advertisement hoarding at Maddilapalem junction on Wednesday seeking that the state should be kept united.
Protesting against the ‘indifferent’ attitude of the Centre towards agitation by the people of Seemandhra, who are on a strike for the past 50 days, he threatened to jump from the top and end his life keeping passers-by on their nerves for a couple of hours.
He raised slogans urging the Congress president Sonia Gandhi and other Congress leaders to keep the state united.
Some leaders and activists of Samaikhyandhra Vidhyardhi JAC reached the spot and raised slogans in favour united Andhra. An eagle attacked Rama Rao causing apprehensions among the onlookers. He was brought down by the AP Fire Service personnel using the Bronto Sky Lift.
Congress and Telugu Desam leaders and activists agitating for Samaikhyandhra nearly came to blows over depicting of Congress President Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and KCR by the TDP. The Congress leaders demanded removal of the flex boards.
The two groups entered into an altercation but the situation was prevented from going out of control on the intervention of the police.
The protests being organised by doctors, nurses and Class-IV employees of KGH on the banner of Samaikhyandhra Medical JAC continued for the 49th day on Wednesday. The participants raised slogans against bifurcation of the state.
Doctors Uday Kumar, Vijay Shekar, Basumitra Das, Chandralekha and Parvathi were among those who participated in the strike on Wednesday.
The protests being organised by various Samaikhyandhra JAC s continued on Wednesday also.
Meanwhile, the National Mazdoor Union (NMU) of APS RTC has said that it would participate in the closure of banks and central government offices in responsed to the call given by the AP NGOs. NMU state joint secretary Y. Srinivas said that the programme would being at the Andhra Bank Zonal Office at Seethammadhra at 9 a.m.
