A meeting of all the Joint Action Committees (Samaikya Parirakshana Vedika) will be held in Hyderabad on Monday to take a final decision on the future course of action to keep the State united. The day, December 9, the birthday of Congress president Sonia Gandhi, would be observed as ‘betrayal day’ as it was on this day in 2009 that the then Home Minister P. Chidambaram had announced the decision on Telangana, APNGOs Association State president P. Ashok Babu said.
He said that a decision has already been taken to revive the Samaikyandhra agitation without harming the future of students. “We have already spoken to leaders of trade unions in Visakhapatnam Port Trust (VPT) and Visakhapatnam Steel Plant (VSP) and are confident that the electricity employees will do their bit to make the Centre feel the heat of the Samaikyandhra agitation,” he told a media conference here on Sunday. A total bandh would be organised in Seemandhra when the Telangana Bill was introduced in Parliament. There would be highway blockades, total disruption of public transport and closure of central government offices. Photographs of Union Ministers and AICC leaders, who were responsible for the Cabinet approval of Telangana, would be burnt in all the 13 districts of Seemandhra to reflect the mood of the people.
Resignation dramaMr. Ashok Babu said that the Union Ministers and MPs of Seemandhra could no longer fool the people with their resignation dramas. Those who had not resigned so far should do so at least now failing which they would have to face the wrath of the voters in the next elections.
AppealHe appealed to all political parties to sink their differences and oppose the Telangana Bill when it came up for discussion in the Assembly. “We have already approached various political parties and sought their support in this regard and they have agreed. We will picket the Assembly when the Bill comes up,” he said.
‘Long way to go’Replying to queries, he said that Cabinet approval of Telangana was the first step in the process and it was still a long way to go. “It’s wrong to think that all is over.”
“The Congress debacle in four out of the five States, which went to the polls, reflects the mood of the people. Though the BJP has been advocating smaller states, it has expressed its reservations on the division of Andhra Pradesh as the Constitutional process was not followed.”
Association state general secretary N. Chandrasekhar Reddy predicted that the Congress would be soon wiped out of the country.
