Sagara Jana Gala Ghosha in Visakhapatnam

Government officers and employees have come together with various organisations to conduct Samaikyandhra Sagara Jana Gala Ghosha on the beach road on Saturday afternoon.

“Twenty one associations representing various government departments and organisations like APSRTC are organising the programme with the support of 111 associations and organisations representing different sections of the people and we expect no less than one lakh participants,” M. Venkateswara Rao, District Revenue Officer and convenor of Visakha Zilla Adhikarula, Udyoga, Upadhayaya, Karmika, Karshakula Porata Samiti, which is organising the programme, said at a press conference here on Friday. Apart from government officers, employees of various departments, APSRTC employees, students of professional and other colleges, the Samiti also requested people to take part in the event to demand the government not to go ahead with the bifurcation of the State.

The participants would start gathering near Alluri Sitaramaraju statue near Park Hotel from 3 p.m. and rally would be taken out to Kali temple. Ksheerabhishekam would be performed to the statue of Potti Sreeramulu and the rally would conclude with a public meeting in front of the Kali temple. Orchestra would be provided at the starting and ending point of the rally along with cultural programmes by students and others in which songs and dances exhorting the need to keep the State unified would be presented. Political leaders were not invited.

At the meeting experts and leaders would explain the problems that would crop up in sharing of water, power, jobs and in fields of education, development programmes, etc., if the State was divided, Mr. Venkateswara Rao said.

This was for the first time that such a programme was being held in the 13 districts of Seemandhra in which the government officers and employees are participating along with others, president of district unit of AP NGOs’ Association K. Eswara Rao said. Additional Joint Collector Y. Narasimha Rao, State vice-president of AP Revenue Services Association S. Nageswara Reddy, secretary of district unit of AP NGOs’ Association T. Gopalakrishna, and president of city unit K.V. Venkateswara Rao were among those present.
