Safe beaches will be developed at Lawson’s Bay and Sagarnagar as part of the State government’s resolve to develop Visakhapatnam as a destination for investors, Minister for Infrastructure, Investments, Ports and Natural Gas Ganta Srinivasa Rao said on Saturday.
He was speaking at a function organised by SoftSol, a software company at Rushikonda IT Park, in connection with recruitment of 200 unemployed youths trained under the Rajiv Yuva Kiranalu programme through the District Rural Development Agency.
The Lawson’s Bay beach would be developed with an investment of Rs.13 crore, he said. SoftSol will engage the newly appointed youths in its automated archive system project, which it has bagged from the Department of Justice, California.
SoftSol has grown as a major player in the past 18 years as global IT service and solution provider employing 500-plus skilled professionals for clients across the U.S., Europe, and India. Mr. Rao said, to accelerate development of Visakhapatnam at the desired pace, it was imperative to create required infrastructure as well as basic amenities such as tourism and entertainment. He said Union IT Minister Killi Kruparani was striving to set up an IT Investment Region and Electronic Manufacturing Cluster in Visakhapatnam.
Stating that Visakhapatnam had a bright future for development due to saturation in various fields in Hyderabad, he said Union Tourism Minister K. Chiranjeevi recently launched Visakhapatnam-Bhimili beach corridor project at a cost of Rs.45 crore.
