Government will be pumping in about Rs. 5,000 crore for the development of government schools, HRD Minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao said here on Sunday. The funding will be utilised for development of infrastructure such as toilets, classrooms, furniture, laboratory equipment and library, he told The Hindu .
The focus is on developing government schools so that parents would prefer admitting their children into government-run schools over the highly-priced private schools.
“The change in government school is evident, as last year we recorded a very high admission of about three lakh students,” he said.
