RINL kicks off green campaign

Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited on Sunday kicked off a campaign to create awareness on ecological protection by organising a cycle rally at Ukkunagaram in connection with the World Environment Day celebrations.

RINL Chairman-cum-Managing Director P. Madhusudan in his message stated that the company since its inception was adopting eco-environment friendly initiatives and had emerged as one of the best green-rich steel plants in the world.

Director (operations) Umesh Chandra flagged off the bicycle rally.

Addressing the participants, he gave details on various measures being taken by Vizag Steel Plant in protecting the environment.

Executive Director (works) D.N. Rao released colourful balloons to mark the occasion. Over 450 children and residents of Ukkunagaram and nearby residential areas participated.

The bicycle rally culminated at the Trishna Grounds. After the rally, head of Environment Department P. Balachandar Rao thanked the participants and the Environment Management Department for its initiative.

Commendation

RINL bagged the special commendation at the Golden Peacock National Training Awards-2014 held at Trivandrum on Saturday evening.

Mr. Madhusudan congratulated the Training Department of the company on bagging ‘special commendation’ at the awards function for excellence by the Training and Development of RINL.

Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Candy presented the award to Director (personnel) G.B.S. Prasad and General Manager (HRD) A. Radhakrishna. RINL bagged the award for its outstanding performance in training and development at the 24th World Congress on Training on Total Quality and Leadership.

The award is the most prestigious corporate recognition in various fields and is now regarded as a benchmark of corporate excellence globally, according to an RINL release. Around 450 companies contested for the award, instituted by Institute of Directors, New Delhi.
