Balaraju and Ganta recall his services
The birth anniversaries of the Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi and former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri were celebrated by various organisations in Visakhapatnam on Tuesday.
Ministers Pasupuleti Balaraju and Ganta Srinivasa Rao garlanded the statues of Gandhiji and Lal Bahadur Shastri and paid rich tributes. They recalled the services rendered by the two leaders to the nation. Government Whip Dronamraju Srinivas, MLAs Malla Vijay Prasad, Tynala Vijay Kumar and U.V. Suryanarayana Raju, District Collector V. Seshadri, GVMC Commissioner M.V. Satyanarayana and Joint Collector Praveen Kumar garlanded the statues of the two leaders.
Ba Bapu Seva Sangam: Humanity is the religion of Mahatma Gandhi, said Gandhian Raavi Venkatachalam at a programme organised by the Sangam. He recalled various instances from the life of Gandhiji. Director of the Gandhi Centre of GITAM University B. Sambasiva Prasad presented the Digumarthy Gopalaswamy Memorial Award to Mr. Venkatachalam and spoke on the books authored by Mr. Venkatachalam and his services to society.
Founder secretary of the Gandhi Centre K.S. Sastry said that the objective of the centre was to spread the message of Gandhiji and his thoughts for the benefit of youth. Sangam secretary C.H. Suryabhaskaram, president of Jyothi Bai Phule Seva Samstha Seethamahalakshmi, Swara Ranjani president Kosana, and advocate Jahara participated.
GVP MLB Trust School: Gandhian Racharla Saranga Rao said that the path shown by Gandhiji was needed for the progress of the nation. MLB Trust secretary P. Antarvedi, V.R. Maya Devi and D. Saraswathi Devi and school Principal K. Madhuravani participated.
AIPSO: All India Peace and Solidarity Organisation (AIPSO) district branch honorary president Devarakonda Markandeyulu and secretary S.V. Prasada Rao paid rich tributes to Gandhiji.

Chairman of the AP Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board S. Gopal paid floral tributes at the statues of Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bhadur Sastry.
Kairali Arts Club: A free eye testing camp was organised by the club in association with Vasan Eye Care. Over 357 persons availed themselves of the opportunity, according to club president N. Dhanapalan. Gajuwaka MLA Chintalpudi Venkata Ramayya attended the programme.
