CPI(M) district committee on Thursday had sent a van load of relief material like rice, blankets, towels, sarees, pants and shirts to the victims of the recent floods and inundation in the district.

The material would be distributed in Aratlakota and Payakaraopeta areas under the supervision of the district secretariat member K. Lokanadham, district secretary Ch. Narasinga Rao said.

He also criticised the government for failing to provide immediate relief to the victims. Even the relief material given to the victims was inadequate.

The party collected money and clothes from the people of Visakhapatnam and sent 900 blankets to those marooned by flood water in P. Dharmavaram area in S. Rayavaram mandal during the first phase of its relief operation.
