Manam to contest as CPI candidate from Vizag LS seat. The basic idea is to ensure that the people-oriented Left parties do not fight each other in the elections, the party leaders said.
There is a need to cleanse our political system and the voters too have a responsibility to reject the power hungry politicians, CPI candidate for Visakhapatnam Lok Sabha seat Manam Anjaneyulu said.
It is utterly disgraceful to see these politicians change parties only to retain their ticket, which makes it clear that they were in it only to serve their self-interests, he told the media here on Sunday. Mr Anjaneyulu along with other party candidates contesting different Assembly segments in the district said they were contesting only to carry a message across to the voters that there was a need to reject self-serving politicians.
The candidates – G Demudu – Paderu, J.V. Prabhakar –Payakaraopeta, A.J. Stalin - Gajuwaka, Chalasani Raghavendra Rao – Visakha West and Devarkonda Markendeyulu - Visakha East, had been in the forefront of people’s movements and agitations, party district secretary J.V. Satyanarayana Murthy said. The CPI is looking for a seat sharing with CPI(M) and talks are at an advanced stage, he added.
The basic idea is to ensure that the people-oriented Left parties do not fight each other in the elections, the party leaders said. “All of us have been serving the people and have been fighting for their rights and will continue to do so. The nomination is only another responsibility given to us. We are here for the party and there is no question of us leaving the party if we are not given a seat or it is given to another Left party as part of an electoral alliance,” Mr Anjaneyulu said.
