Collector Pravin Kumar has directed the Police and Transport officials to ensure that autorickshaws drivers do not stop on roads irregularly and cause traffic problems. Awareness programmes should be conducted for auto drivers from time to time so that they adhere to traffic rules.

Presiding over the Road Safety Committee meeting on Friday, he directed the R & B officials to take up patch works to close potholes on the roads. Bushes should be cleared on the curves at various roads to provide a clear view to motorists. Similarly, speed breakers and blinkers should be provided wherever necessary on the roads. Reflective paints should be used to prevent accidents on the Sabbavaram-Anandapuram culvert. All R & B roads should be jointly inspected by the R & B officials along with the police and the necessary works should be completed.

R & B Superintending Engineer Muralikrishna said ₹58 lakh was sanctioned for the Sabbavaram – Anandapuramroad and other roads. Tenders would be called for the works and they would be completed. The speed breakers on the Anakapalle – Pudimadaka Road were removed. An agency was identified for doing patch works on the roads and they would be completed by July 10. He said the DPR was submitted for construction of a 5-km, 4-line road in Araku panchayat at a cost of ₹22 crore.
