The Visakhapatnam Public Library has added another facet to it with the inauguration of the Regional Language Section, Vividh Bharathi. To begin with Malayalam and Tamil books are the new addition.
Inaugurating the section, Visakhapatnam Public Library Society President D.V. Subba Rao who was in the chair recalled the contribution of stalwarts from the other States, including Tamil Nadu and Kerala, for the development of the city.
Such contributions have made the city cosmopolitan in nature.
Visakhapatnam Steel Plant General Manager S. Eswara Murthy handed over a collection of books worth Rs.10,000 on behalf of Kerala Kala Samithi. The Tamil Kalai Mandram handed over some books as a token.
It announced a contribution of Rs.10,000 for acquiring books.
The idea of starting the section was that of society member M. Varahalu Chetty.
Philanthropist D.S.N. Raju announced a contribution of Rs.50,000 to the library. Visakhapatnam Cooperative Bank Chairman and former MLA Manam Anjaneyulu was felicitated.
Centre for Policy Studies Director A. Prasanna Kumar spoke.
Kerala Kala Samithi President K. Hari Das, former President George Thomas, former secretary of Tamil Kalai Mandram V. Dhivakar, Vividh Bharathi coordinator P.V. Ramana and L.R. Swamy participated.
