A feeling of insecurity grips residents of Sri Laxmi Nagar as their peace of mind is often robbed by recurring cases of theft.
While some say that one of the neighbours lost 50 gm of jewellery recently, another resident joins to narrate his experience.
“My job involves frequent travelling to foreign countries. The locked house has become all the more convenient for the robbers to enter it. From taps to washbasins and electronic gadgets, I have lost many appliances within a short span,” says Rehman Shariff, a resident.
What worries the people is the lack of police patrolling in the area despite their repeated pleas to the officials concerned.
Poor roads, drainagesUneven roads, clogged drains, and poor garbage maintenance are some of the other problems the colony is plagued with. From the entrance of the colony to the narrow streets, the place greets you with litter scattered all around. With blocked drains adding to the misery, the place has become a battlefield, where residents can be found fighting mosquitoes.
There is no proper approach road to China Mushidiwada, which is the main market hub for the colony.
“We have to pass through a narrow lane that is in a bad shape. During rainy season, it becomes almost impossible to reach the market as this particular stretch remains submerged,” says A. Lakshman Rao, one of the residents.
As there are no recreation zones in place, children prefer spending their evenings playing shuttlecock on the road. Though the colony is considered to be traffic-free zone, the little ones are often troubled by a pack of stray dogs.
With a host of civic issues haunting the residents for several years now, the colony craves for better attention from the civic administration.
