B. Yellaji Rao Yadav (37), a realtor, escaped an attempt on his life here on Friday morning. The incident occurred at 8.15 a.m. near Ballayya Sastry Layout in Seethammadhara area, when he was on his way to drop his two children -- B.Teja (7) and B. Chakravarthi (5) – at Adarsh School, TPT Colony.

In a cinematic style, he was stopped by two men on a motorbike.

While the rider engaged him in a talk, the pillion rider tried to spray chilli powder on his face and pulled out a knife to stab him.

According to the police, since the wind was strong, the powder landed near his neck. Mr. Yellaji lost his balance and fell off his scooter. Seeing the assailant pulling out a knife, he picked up his children and ran.

As passers-by gathered, anticipating trouble the assailants fled the spot.

According to the police, Yellaji apart from being into real estate business is a member of the YSR Congress and a case under IPC Section 324 (assault) was earlier lodged against him at the Fourth Town Police Station.

Complaint lodged

Assistant Commissioner of Police (East zone) R. Ramana told The Hindu that the realtor in his complaint stated that two of his party members -- Raja and Ramana Reddy -- nursed a grudge against him and employed the hired killers.

“We have questioned the two but nothing has come out so far. We have registered a case under IPC Sections 324, 506 and 341 and are investigating,” said the ACP.
