Water problem

Water problem not only haunts the dwellers of new apartments but even those residing in old ones also suffer. The paucity of water is problem of the whole city. Despite the scarcity, water is wasted at the street taps, which have no stoppers, the leakages in the pipeline are a common scene. Many residents also waste the water, despite GVMC creating awareness on not wasting water. The rain water harvesting concept is also not taken up by many. It is time that GVMC adopt the Kolkata system, where the Corporation of Kolkata have two sets of pipeline. One pipeline used to supply the untreated water that can be used for daily household purposes and the other carrying the treated drinking water.

NGOs’ demand

The Finance Minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu recently said the state finances do not show a healthy trend. He explained that the expenditure was not in tune with receipts and there is no creation of assets. In such a situation the demand by the APNGOs for the implementation of 11th Pay Revision Commission does not appropriate the scenario.

Dog menace

Despite GVMC taking up a number of measures, the dog menace in various colonies continue to grow. They not only chase motorists who arrive home late from duty or a movie, but also attack small children and grown ups.

The authoritiesshould take steps to bring the problem under control. At night it can be seen that 10 to 15 dogs assemble at one place and it becomes difficult the motorists to pass the area.
