Reaching out to the needy

April 26, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 03:51 pm IST - VISAKHAPATNAM:

What do you do with old and unwanted books? Instead of dumping them in the bins, Oneness organisation, students association that works for underprivileged children, wants to donate them as it steps up an innovative drive known as ‘Drop box’.

As part of the initiative, representatives of the organisation will collect old books, send them for recycling and distribute new ones to the needy children located in rural areas. With the tag line “Clean up and give us what you don’t use”, a drop box has been kept at Gayatri Vidya Parishad College, Rushikonda campus for the purpose. “Students can clear off their shelves and drop the unwanted books in the box. These books will be sent for recycling and new ones derived from the process will be distributed to the underprivileged children for the next academic year,” says A. Kundhan Karunakar, president of Oneness India.
