An evening of Telugu cinema music is scheduled for Sunday in honour of first Telugu cinema playback singer Ravu Bala Saraswathi Devi who would be felicitated on the occasion.
Bala Saraswathi Devi who entered cinema field in 1936 as a child artiste held the audience in thrall with her singing. She was an actress and singer till the 1960s. She also has the distinction of being the first light music singer on All India Radio.
She would be given away Ugadi 2014 puraskaram by Seetha Ramaiah Sangeetha Seva Trust. The evening would see local talent, led by Sitaramaiah, present melodious numbers in her honour, according to a release issued here.
On Saturday the veteran Telugu and Tamil playback singer would be felicitated by the Vizag Film Society. Andhra University Vice Chancellor GSN Raju would honour her on Saturday morning at the AU Academic Staff College.
