Waving a banner that said, ‘Save earth and avoid polythene covers’, holding placards that carried a green message, and raising slogans all along, the team of India Youth for Society flagged off its ‘P4 — Prevent Polythene and Protect Planet’ campaign on Thursday.

It was aimed at encouraging stakeholders to avoid use of plastic covers and bags that cause irrevocable damage to the environment.

On a mission

On a mission to reduce use of non-biodegradable plastic to the extent possible in the city, the volunteers passed through MVP Colony, Jagadamba Junction, and lanes of Poorna Market, LIC Circle, RTC Complex, and Dabagardens as part of a rally.

Students of B.V.K. College and Mrs. A.V.N. College took part in the rally and distributed pamphlets urging people not to use plastic material in any form. They explained to the passers-by the adverse effects of non-biodegradable material on animals, plants, marine species, and human beings. Principal of Mrs. A.V.N. College Vedula Perraju flagged off the rally along with lecturers of the colleges. Volunteers V. Ajit, P. Madhu, M. Jagadish, and N.B. Murthy were present.
