The Modi government will lose its credibility in Andhra Pradesh, if it fails to allocate funds for the railway zone, special package to backward districts and Special Category Status (SCS) to AP in the ensuing Budget session of Parliament, former Minister Konathala Ramakrishna has said.

Mr. Ramakrishna will lead a delegation, on the banner of Uttarandhra Charcha Vedika, to New Delhi from Visakhapatnam on January 27. The team will reach New Delhi by the Visakhapatnam – New Delhi AP AC Express, at the start of the Budget session of Parliament.

He offered prayers at Sri Sampath Vinayaka temple here on Sunday. The former MP would be on a fast during the 48-hour train journey. He would meet the Railway Minister, MPs and others separately and submit memoranda to them on the pending issues.

“This is the last budget to be presented by the Modi government and failure to allocate funds to the new rail zone, SCS and special package is nothing but deceiving the people of AP, after fooling them for more than three years. The non-allocation of funds in the Budget would cause irreparable loss to AP,” he told the media.

The BJP would be taught a fitting lesson in the next general elections and the position of TDP may be no better, if they do not insist on declaration of the railway zone with headquarters in Visakhapatnam and on keeping the other promises made at the time of bifurcation, he said.

The former MP said that he still had faith in the Prime Minister and hoped that that latter would keep his commitments to AP at least now.

“We have approached all political parties and they have expressed their support on the new rail zone and other issues pertaining to the State.”
