The agitation seeking establishment of a new railway zone in Andhra Pradesh with headquarters in Visakhapatnam will be taken to the streets of Delhi.
If necessary, trains will be stopped in their tracks to exert pressure on the Centre to implement the assurance given in the AP Reorganisation Act, YSR Congress district president G. Amarnath has said.
The fasting YSRC leader was forcibly removed by the police and shifted to the KGH late on Sunday night. He gave up the fast on Monday after party president Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy called on him and offered him a glass of lime juice. He was discharged from hospital on Tuesday.
Speaking to the media before leaving the hospital, Mr. Amarnath said: “The Chief Minister seems to be under the impression that the agitation could be ended by foiling the hunger strike. We hoped that the strike would put an end to the long-drawn agitation. But now, we will have to begin afresh.” “The hunger strike is just a beginning and not the end as rightly pointed out by Mr. Jaganmohan Reddy. We will meet leaders of all political parties, peoples’ organisations, and intellectuals who supported us during the agitation, and chalk out the future course of action,” he said.
Peaceful manner
Asserting that he was committed to continuing the agitation in a peaceful manner, Mr. Amarnath wondered why the government should use police force to evict him.
Former MLAs Tynala Vijay Kumar and Malla Vijay Prasad, YSRC leaders Vamsi Krishna Yadav, T. Nagi Reddy, and Kola Guruvulu were among those who were present at the hospital.
