RAFT launches diploma in digital film making

June 01, 2014 08:49 pm | Updated 08:49 pm IST - VISAKHAPATNAM:

Analog film making is passé; the in-thing is digital film making and television production. And for those who intend to make a career in the ‘four frames industry’, all they need to have is a creative bent of mind, a passion for film making, and technological edge.

And, in tune with the latest developments, Ramoji Academy of Film and Television (RAFT), Hyderabad, has launched two new courses pertaining to film and television industry.

Addressing a seminar here on Sunday, RAFT administration in-charge V. Rakesh said that both the courses were designed to suit the new digital format of film and television production.

The one-year diploma in Digital Film Making and Television covers all the 24 crafts that are required in contemporary film making and television production such as direction, cinematography, script writing, and art direction.

According to Mr. Rakesh, students can choose any of the five crafts as specialisation.

The second one-year diploma programme in Film Making and Animation, deals with the animation aspect in film making.

Both the programmes are residential and will be organised on Ramoji Film City campus in Hyderabad.

The programmes are open to all students who have cleared Intermediate and the intake is 30 per course. But the selection is subject to a personal interview.

“In the present context, both film and television production relies heavily on creativity and technology, and these courses are tailor-made to suit the industry. This apart, there are a lot of opportunities for such professionals in the advertising industry. In both the programmes, the students will get ample hands-on practical experience,” said Mr. Rakesh.
