Raavi Sastry remembered

Rich tributes were paid to noted writer Rachakonda Viswanadha Sastry (Raavi Sastry) on his 93rd birth anniversary here on Wednesday.

Andhra University Vice-Chancellor G.S.N. Raju, while paying tributes to the writer and advocate, said Raavi Sastry gave direction to society through his writings. He garlanded the statue of Raavi Sastry on the beach road.

Raavi Sastry’s junior Sistla Srinivasa Murthy presided. Senior advocates Lanka Jagannadham, K.V. Ramamurthy, Malladi Suryanarayana Sastry, Member of AP State Bar Council Ch. Madhavilata, orthopaedic surgeon N.V. Sastry, president of Bar Association of Visakhapatnam N.V. Badarinath, Raavi Sastry’s son Kumara Sastry, and others were present.

Pupils of Gayatri Vidya Parishad MLBT High School participated in a ‘padayatra’ from their school to the Raavi Sastry statue and paid floral tributes. Principal K. Madhuravani and teachers led the pupils. The ‘padayatra’ was earlier flagged off by Prof. Raju.
