Mahila Chaitanya Sravanthi, an NGO working for the cause of women, visually challenged and the aged for the last 11 years, has now taken up a drinking water project for tribal villages in Visakhapatnam district.
The project is sponsored by the Ramjethmalani Foundation, New Delhi.
Villagers happy
Managing trustee of the foundation Lata Krishnamurti on Sunday inaugurated the drinking water project at Dabbanda. Girijans of Dabbanda, Pedda Dabbanda, SC Colony and Krishnapuram expressed their deep gratitude and happiness to the Ramjethmalani Foundation and Mahila Chaitanya Sravanthi for providing drinking water to their villages.
‘Pattas denied'
It was brought to the notice of Ms. Lata Krishnamurti that the government denied pattas (title deeds) to the tribals for the lands in their occupation for more than three generations.
Help promised
She said she would take up the issue and asked the tribals to provide necessary documentary evidence for examining the issue and further course of action in the matter.
She assured them of cooperation on behalf of the foundation in achieving their legitimate rights.
Mahila Chaitanya Sravanthi chairperson D. Venkata Lakshmi Arrabolu, secretary A. Jagadeeswara Rao and executive director of Samata, an NGO, Ravi Rebbapragada, participated in the programme.
