Visakhapatnam Air Travellers Association representatives Vishnu Kumar Raju, O. Naresh Kumar and Ch. Ramakotaiah accompanied the Minister when she called on the President.
The President readily accepted the invitation and promised to visit the city at the earliest, according to Mr. Naresh Kumar.
Dr. Purandeswari conveyed her best wishes to the President on his election to the high office, on behalf of the people of Visakhapatnam constituency. The VATA leader hoped that the President’s visit would provide the necessary impetus and thrust to investments and employment in the region and showcase Vizag at the national and international level.
She also met Finance Minister P. Chidambaram on Monday and sought his cooperation for starting 24/7 operations at Vizag Airport.
It may be recalled that Dr. Purandeswari had met both the Union Minister of State for Defence M.M. Pallam Raju and Defence Minister A.K. Antony and they had cleared the files pertaining to 24/7 operations and forwarded the same to the Finance Ministry for its approval.
Mr. Chidambaram promised to clear the same at the earliest. This is the final approval and as soon as this is cleared, 24/7 operations at Visakhapatnam Airport will become a reality.
