A dharna was staged by the Praja Rajyam in protest against the steep hike in bus fares at Maddilapalem bus station on Friday.

Addressing the gathering, Bheemunipatnam MLA M. Srinivasa Rao demanded immediate rollback of the hike and save the common man who was already burdened by steep hike in the prices of essential commodities.

He warned that the party would be forced to launch an agitation in a phased manner if the fare hike was not reversed.

PRP rural convener and Pendurthy MLA Panchakarla Ramesh Babu, city convener P.G.V.R. Naidu (Gana Babu) and party leaders Raghava Rao and Sarath were among those who participated.
