80 HIV positive persons attend workshop
Care and protection of health is the primary responsibility of every human being, Vice-Chancellor in-charge of Andhra University P. George Victor said while inaugurating a workshop on challenges and opportunities for HIV/AIDS infected towards inclusion, held at AU here on Saturday on the occasion of the World AIDS Day.
The Centre for Study of Social Exclusion and Inclusive Policy of AU organised the workshop. About 80 HIV positive people attended the programme. Member of the National Human Rights Committee K.S. Chalam said the Centre was taking up many effective research and awareness programmes for the marginalised sections.
While director of Green Vision G. Prabhakar explained the care and support programme being provided to the HIV positive people, Additional DMHO R. Ramesh spoke on the Government intervention programmes to the positive people. Director of the CSSEIP R.D. Sampath Kumar presided. Prof. George Victor released the annual report of the centre and Prof. Chalam released the centre’s brochure.

A large number of volunteers of NSS-II unit of the AU College of Arts and Commerce took out a rally and conducted an awareness programme, Programme Officer Y. Ramana informed.
