A meeting of the committee on the Simhachalam Devasthanam lands was held at the Collector's camp office here on Tuesday and Commissioner of Endowments J.S.V. Prasad asked the officials to take steps to protect the endowment lands.
Mr. Prasad asked Collector J. Syamala Rao to identify the encroachments in different categories and submit a report in two months.
He wanted the officials to identify the boundaries and construct compound walls around the endowment lands.
Staff could be engaged on contact basis to identify encroachments, Mr. Prasad said.
He suggested raising Nrushimhavanam on a 100-acre plot to increase green cover as a measure to protect environment. Medicinal plants and other varieties could be raised in the Nrushimhavanam.
The Endowment Commissioner also wanted a report to be prepared on developing the hill-top road from Hanumanthawaka to Simhachalam (which was laid several years ago) on international standards and experts could be approached for their suggestions.
The hill-top road could be beautified by providing welcome arches, lighting, parking, steps and other facilities along with toll gate and security points. The beautification should not disturb the environment.
He entrusted the preparation of Nrusimhavanam and beautification of hill-top road to Vice-Chairman of Visakhapatnam Urban Development Authority.
Survey teams
Mr. Syamala Rao said that survey teams were formed and the committee would take a decision after analysing their reports.
Commissioner in-charge of Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation Krishna Murthy, Joint Collector Pola Bhaskar, District Revenue Officer D.V. Reddy, VUDA Secretary Jagadeesh, Chief Engineer of GVMC Jayarami Reddy, Revenue Divisional Officer Prabhakara Rao, Executive Officer of Simhachalam Devasthanam Prem Kumar and other officers were present.
