On the occasion of World Sparrow Day, Trendsetters Charitable Trust (TCT) in association with AP Pollution Control Board and Indira Gandhi Zoological Park launched an initiative ‘project backyard’. On Thursday morning, the volunteers met at Prasanthi Park and requested the passers-by to follow simple techniques to attract the chirpy birds. They emphasised on arranging bird feeder, artificial nest and clay bowls filled with water to promote sparrow population.
The project, supported by a bunch of NGO representatives and volunteers, saw participants from different walks of life. Many of them bought nest boxes, bird feeders made of recycled plastic bottles, clay moulds and flowering saplings at the venue.
As part of World Sparrow Day, the team also addressed about 400 children at Ramakrishna Mission School, and made them understand the importance of the day. Some of the students came up with their own nest models and paintings.
