Collector Pravin Kumar on Tuesday said the government cleared proposals for undertaking road safety works, to be taken up with ₹95 lakh, in the district.

Presiding over the Road Safety Committee meeting here, the Collector directed the officials concerned to take up the safety works immediately. He said the efforts should be made to reduce road accidents and deaths by at least 15 % in the district every month. APS RTC officials should strive to promoting road safety and to prevent accidents. As the RTC drivers were well-trained, they could play a greater role in minimising and preventing accidents.

Mr. Pravin Kumar said the government had sanctioned ₹13 lakh for undertaking various works through the Panchayat Raj Department. He directed the officials to utilise the funds for the purpose for which they were sanctioned. Installation of signal lights, blinkers, construction of speed breakers and dividers at important junctions in the district should be taken up.

The ‘108’ Emergency Ambulances should be stationed at suitable points to enable them reach the accident spots on time, he said.
