Former MP Yarlagadda Lakshmi Prasad has appealed to Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu to ensure presentation of the first budget, from the new Assembly building in Amaravathi, in Telugu. Mr. Lakshmi Prasad, who is chairman of Lok Nayak Foundation, recalled that in the past Telangana Minister Eetela Rajender had introduced the State budget of Telangana in Telugu last year but the A.P. Finance Minister had presented it in English last year.
Addressing a media conference here on Monday,he said at least this year the Finance Minister would introduce the budget in Telugu. He said Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan during his address from the new Assembly building had done well to begin and end his speech in Telugu. Commending the State for ensuring that the buildings in Amaravati reflected Andhra heritage and culture, he said it would have little meaning when Telugu language was neglected.
