Prayer meetings were held, cleanliness campaigns carried out and floral tributes paid to Mahatma Gandhi, Father of the Nation, on his birth anniversary here on Monday. As a part of Sarvamata Prardhana, special prayers were recited by members of all religions.
RINL CMD P. Madhusudan garlanded the statue of Mahatma Gandhi and recalled his sacrifices and the high moral values he stood for.
The CMD and other directors of RINL and union leaders participated in the mass cleanliness drive at Sector VIII of the Market Complex.
Mr. Madhusudan handed over a van to Desire Society, providing institutional care for children abandoned and orphaned by HIV/AIDS, under the CSR initiative.

At NSTL, Outstanding Scientist and Director O.R. Nandagopan and Scientist “G” and Chairman, Works Committee, S.M. Bhave paid tributes to Mahatma Gandhi and former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri, whose birth anniversary falls on the day.
In the cleanliness rankings, Directorate of Batteries and Explosives, headed by Scientist ‘G’ A. Srinivas Kumar, topped.
Dr. Nandagopan gave way uniforms worth ₹ 20,000 to 46 students of The People Society. NSTL has adopted two children for education at Ramnath Secondary School. Four personnel of GVMC were felicitated for keeping the NSTL premises clean.

At the Dredging Corporation of India Limited (DCIL) , CMD Rajesh Tripathi and other top officials paid floral tributes. In the fortnight-long Swachhta Abhiyan that concluded on the day, the Materials Department received the Rolling Trophy.
