The Department of Posts (DoP) will set up as many as 16 ATMs in Srikakulam, Visakhapatnam and Vizianagaram to enable its customers to conduct hassle-free transactions. The department will soon enter into an agreement with banks for mutual transactions. Sharda Sampath, Post Master General, Visakhapatnam region, on Thursday inspected the Srikakulam head post office and directed officials to set up more counters to offer speedy services to customers in accordance with the Citizen’s Charter, which stipulates specific duration of time for each transaction.

She said online services would be a boon for customers, as the facility would enable them to make payments at all post offices. “Payment of loans, insurance, savings and others can be done easily using the online facility. Customers can do transactions with other cities from the nearest post bank,” she added.

Janapala Prasad Babu, Superintendent, DoP, Srikakulam, explained the latest initiatives taken up at the branches in the district. They informed Ms. Sampath that a ‘clean and green programme’ was being implemented in accordance with a directive from the head post office. Under this programme, cleanliness will be ensured in all post offices.

Employees who performed well were felicitated on the occasion. Ms. Sampath said the department would always recognise hard work and reward its staff suitably.
