In the wake of recent incidents in the district and region putting a question mark on industrial safety, the Super Computing Consortium of India has proposed to build and operate a Safety Incident Reporting Portal.
The SCCI proposed to set up the portal to collect voluntarily submitted safety related incidents from industry participants.
Further, a simple mobile application would be developed for easier incident reporting, chair, SCCI, Gopi Kumar Bulusu, offered in the proposal sent to the Director of Factories, Department of Factories and Industrial Safety, Government of A.P.
The voluntary report of even minor incidents and the corrective actions would create a database of tutorials on how to address such incidents, apart from providing authorities information on the areas that require focus.
A simple analytics of the data would help reduce the likelihood of larger safety incidents from occurring.
The portal could also be used to disseminate tutorials and videos that promote safe industrial practices.
The real time reporting of incidents would also help the Disaster Management Department and healthcare service providers gear up for emergencies. Further, it would help the authorities map the potential affected areas in the event of any industrial accident, thereby minimising its impact on general public.
The SCCI proposes to facilitate the development of the portal by interacting with the Department of Industrial Safety, industrial units, and technology members of the SCCI.
To make the portal available free of cost to the department and the users, the SCCI planned to generate revenue by placing relevant advertisements on the portal, Mr. Kumar, who is also CEO of city-based Sankhya Technologies, said.
It contains reports of even minor incidents and corrective actions taken by industry participants
