As part of the confidence-building measures among voters, the police conducted a flag march in the One Town area here on Wednesday.
Being the first in the flag march programmes before May 7 elections, about 200 police personnel, led by Assistant Commissioner of Police D.N. Mahesh and One Town Police Station Inspector Illyas Mohammed, participated.
According to Mr. Illyas, two platoons of Central Reserve Police Force, three platoons of Andhra Pradesh Special Police and a contingent of local police participated.
“This was done as per the order of the Commissioner of Police B. Shivadhar Reddy and the idea was to enhance the confidence level of voters, so that they can come out and cast their franchise without any fear,” said Mr. Mahesh.
The personnel covered sensitive areas such as Relliveedhi, AVN College, Jalaripeta, and Allipuram.
Similar flag marches would be held in the coming days at all police station limits, said Mr. Illyas.
