World Zoonoses Day was observed on Friday with free vaccination to pets and issuing them licences.

Government Whip Dronamraju Srinivasa Rao who was the chief guest at the programme said GVMC extending free vaccination would help in prevention of rabies. Additional Commissioner (General) S. Krishna Murthy said organising the day would help increase awareness on diseases communicable from animals.

City Veterinary Officer B. Ramamohana Rao said a total of 4,500 pets were administered anti-rabies vaccine and 777 licences issued collecting a fee of Rs.77,700.

Zone Commissioner Rajasekhar Reddy, Animal Husbandry Joint Director V. Venkateswara Rao and Raj Kumar, V. Rama Rao, Nagamani, Somayajulu, Kannababu and B. Ravi, all doctors, participated.
