The V-K PCPIR Special Development Authority (SDA) has extended the last date for filing objections and suggestions on the PCPIR draft master plan by one month, up to December 5.
The PCPIR draft master plan was released on August 5 giving 90 days time for filing objections and suggestions. In view of the agitation for the last few months, lack of transportation and other adverse conditions due to heavy rains, the PCPIR SDA has decided to extend the last date to enable the stakeholders, public and local bodies in PCPIR limits to file their objections. In an effort to make the entire exercise more transparent, SDA Vice-Chairman N. Yuvaraj has increased the time to 90 days, instead of the usual 30 days. With the extension, it now becomes 120 days.
In-charge Vice Chairperson of VUDA M. Janaki said the public, stakeholders and local bodies falling in PCPIR limits to utilise the opportunity and file their objections and suggestions on or before December 5 and send them to “the Vice Chairman, VK- PCPIR, IX Floor, VUDA Udyog Bhavan, Siripuram, Visakhapatnam- 530 003”.
The draft master plan for PCPIR is displayed at third floor of VUDA Office, GVMC office, mandal headquarters of the 10 mandals in PCPIR area and on VUDA website www.vuda.gov.in.
Rally taken out
Meanwhile, The district committee of CPI(M) took out a protest rally against the PCPIR . The party is of the view that small and marginal farmers would lose land and farm labourers, fishermen, weavers, toddy workers and sheep-rearers would lose their livelihood.
A number of activists, who came from areas falling under PCPIR came by train to participate in the protest took out the rally from the railway station to VUDA office where a dharna was staged. The draft master plan of the PCPIR was published on August 5 giving 90 days to file objections. It is further extended by a month. In a representation submitted to the VUDA Vice-Chairman the party leaders said meetings were conducted in various villages to know their views. But taking signatures from them could not be completed by November 5 owing to the recent heavy rains.
The memorandum alleged that gram sabhas were not conducted as announced earlier and the attempt to get resolutions passed at mandal-level were opposed. CPI(M) State secretariat member Ch. Narsinga Rao and district secretary K. Lokanadham addressed the protestors.
