Patient allegedly molested by ward boy in KGH

Hospital Superintendent orders probe into the incident

A 40-year-old woman, who was admitted to the King George Hospital, was allegedly molested by a ward boy in the wee hours of Saturday. The incident came to light after her family members lodged a complaint with the One Town police on Sunday afternoon.

Following the complaint, the police arrested the accused person, M. Kiran Kumar (19), a resident of Poorna Market area in the city.

According to One Town Inspector P. Umakanth, the victim, a resident of Peddagantyada of Gajuwaka, was admitted to the hospital due to a neurological problem on Friday. After examining the patient, the doctors referred for a CT scan.

In the wee hours of Saturday, the woman was being taken to CT scan by the accused and after taking her to the scanning theatre, he allegedly molested her, said the inspector.

Hospital Superintendent G. Arjuna said an inquiry had been ordered. He also said the accused was a contract employee of an outsourced diagnostic establishment in the hospital.

According to the police, after watching the CCTV footage, a case was registered under the IPC Section 354 (b).
