East Coast Railway achieves tag of highest loading zone for the second successive year

The East Coast Railway has achieved the tag of the highest loading zone for the second successive year and the Waltair Division has bagged the overall efficiency shield.

In the 61{+s}{+t}Railway Week celebrations by East Coast Railway, observed to commemorate the first run of train on Indian soil, Waltair Division was given away the overall efficiency shield on Saturday in Bhubaneswar by General Manager, East Coast Railway, Rajiv Vishnoi, and president East Coast Railway Women’s Welfare Organisation (ECoRWWO) Shalini Vishnoi in the presence of additional General Manager B.N. Mahapatra.

Addressing railway staff and their family members, Mr. Vishnoi, complimented the staff on their determined efforts and devotion to their duty with a progressive attitude and for a valuable contribution in achieving the honour of the highest loading zone in Indian Railways.

East Coast Railway achieved the tag of highest loading zone for the second successive year by loading 173.49 MT during 2015-16 which is 7.15 per cent more than that in the 2014-15 financial year. This achievement is commendable especially in view of various challenges faced by traffic transportation sector in the country and Indian Railways in particular.

Similarly, ECoR carried 92.97 million passengers in the 2015-16 financial year, which is 3.48 per cent more than in last year. East Coast Railway bagged the Pandit Govind Ballabh Pant Best Zonal Railway Shield-2015 for All Round Performance among all the zones in Indian Railways.

Merit awards and shields were handed over to various officers and staff for outstanding performance. Waltair Division received the Overall Efficiency Shield for performance in various fields. Divisional Railway Manager, Waltair, Chandralekha Mukherjee, received the overall performance shield along with branch officers.
